Frequently

Asked Questions

  • The length of therapy will depend on your specific presenting concerns and the goals we create together. Sessions usually occur on a weekly basis and are 50 minutes in length. However, for various reasons, such as time, budget or having reached our therapeutic goals, the frequency of sessions may begin to taper. You can expect open dialogue from me about this throughout our work together.

  • I cannot be immediately available during a crisis or emergency. If you are in a crisis and need to speak with someone immediately, you can connect to a crisis counselor by texting or calling 988. If you are experiencing an emergency and need help, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

If this is not an emergency, but you would like to be seen as soon as possible, contact me directly to inquire about my availability. I will do my best to see you within the week should I have openings in my caseload, or I will provide you with a vetted list of referrals.

  • That is okay — it happens! I invite you to let me know, either in a session or via email. What I typically find in these moments is that expectations of therapy are not lining up with reality. The great news is, therapy is your own! We can curate the experience to best serve your needs.

I also find that “goodness of fit”, or whether you jibe with your therapist, is a key feature of losing your footing with therapy. It isn’t all on you! You can expect that I will be open and direct throughout the early stages of therapy in asking what you think of our sessions and if we are focusing on what is most important to you. I take no offense if we discover that I am not the best fit for you!

I take it to be my professional responsibility to help you find what you are looking for, either by helping you refine what you want in a therapist and providing you the “therapist lingo” to use in your ongoing search, or by connecting you to someone in my ever-growing network.
